Raizen is Brazil’s leading manufacturer of sugarcane ethanol. Its production capacity is about 2.1 billion litres of biofuel per year. Raizon is based from the merger of Shell and Cosan and is now the Brazil’s fifth largest company in terms of billable revenues
GranBio is a Brazilian biotech company. Granbio has experties in transforming biomass into renewable products such as biofuels, biochemicals, nano materials and nutrients. It produces second-generation (2G) ethanol utilizing discarded sugarcane straw and bagasse as raw materail. Granbio’s plant at Alagoas, Brazil is operational since September 2014 and has a capacity to produce 82 million litres of 2G ethanol per annum. This plant is adjacent to Granbio’s another sugarcane based 1G bioethanol plant.
Total biodiesel production capacity of Petrobras Biocombustível is about 821 million liters/year. This includes the plants of affiliated companies operational in partnership with Petrobras. Company has established a joint pilot plant with Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte to produce biodiesel from microalgae in Extremoz.

Solazyme, a US based company, jointly with Brazilian agriculture and food company Bunge (Solazyme Bunge Produtos Renovaveis Ltda.) owns an algae to renewable oil commercial facility at Moema (Brazil). The oil production capacity of this plant is 100,000 t.p.a. The plant started production in May 2014.
The company now has full ownership of three ethanol production plants, two in Goiás and one in Minas Gerais. The combined capacity of the three mills BP ownes is 10 million tons of sugarcane per year.

Odebrecht Agroindustrial focuses on the production and sale of ethanol and sugar, supplying both the Brazilian and international markets. It was previously known as ETH Bioenergia. The company cultivates and harvests more than 27 million tons of sugarcane. It has nine units located in four Brazilian states: São Paulo, Goiás, Mato Grosso, and Mato Grosso do Sul. The combined installed milling capacity of these units tis 40 million tons of sugarcane while these are capable of producing three billion liters of ethanol, 700,000 tons of sugar and 3,100 GWh of electrical power.
