No proposal for biofuel plant, Govt.of India

The government has no proposal to set up any biofuel plant as of now as stated by Ms. Piyush Goyal, Minister of state for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy (Independent Charge), Govt of India, in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.  The minister stated that the Govt. of India is emphasizing on setting up biogas plants across the country.

As an estimate 4.75 million family type and about 350 large biogas plants are currently installed in the country for power generation. These are based on cattle dung and other wastes and residues and are generating over 51 lakh cubic meter biogas per day as per the information provided by the minister.
